Purpose
Urban regeneration project for Sewoon Arcade’s rooftop aims to activate the arcade in the industrial
way, by opening and sharing the unused common space as a public space.
While the previous redevelopment plans for Sewoon Arcade were general plans doing constructions on
a large scale, this regeneration plan for Sewoon Arcade’s rooftop focuses on settling its role as a citizen’s
common place, by giving special value to merchants, and residents of it and connecting citizens and
activists.
For the sustainable value production, running programs and activities is very important as well as creating
a space. So, we planned a pre-production for various programs and activities which will be run in the
space, and recruited agents among the social economy enterprises.

Research Progress Direction
Planning various program contents which reflect the main concept and feature based on the developing
map of a rooftop park of Sewoon Arcade.
Recruiting social economy enterprises who can plan and operate various program contents.
Collecting opinions and developing citizen participation programs by holding a meeting with all the parties
concerned.
Setting up a budget and financial plan according to the project plans.
Giving feasibility and convenience of operation by delivering requirements to be reflected at the level of
designing.

Purpose
According to MOU between Seoul Metropolitan government and the representative of Sewoon Arcade,
we made the base for Sewoon Arcade regeneration project by planning basic strategy to create a park
on the rooftop of Sewoon Arcade.
We found the character and distinguishable points of the space, and drew up a developing map to maximize
them. It will be reflected on the construction design.
We gave shape to continuous and distinctive contents which fit the space, and suggested the operation
structure which could maximize the results of regeneration projects.
